What was expected by many has happened . Alonso and his team McLaren Mercedes decided to separate their paths in the next season. Alonso disagreed the team's attitude of not making him the number 1 pilot ,although he was the defending double world champion while McLaren disagreed to Alonso's attitude towards the team and consider him to be the one to be blamed for the 100 million dollar fine from FIA plus the lost constructors title. Honda tests 3 young GP2 drivers in the next weeks

Honda announced on Monday that GP2 drivers Mike Conway, Luca Filippi and Andreas Zuber will drive at the team’s first winter test, which will be held in Spain next month. All three young hopefuls will get the chance to test the Japanese team’s race car at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya from November 13-15.

Conway has been part of Honda's Young Driver Programme since March 2007, and has worked closely with the squad throughout his debut season in the GP2 series with the Super Nova International team. Prior to GP2, the 24 year-old won the British Formula Three championship and the Macau Grand Prix during the 2006 season. He also won the Formula Renault UK title in 2004.

Filippi, who was Conway’s team mate at Super Nova in 2007, has competed in the GP2 series for the past two seasons. He finished in fourth position in the 2007 driver standings. The 22 year-old began his racing career in his home country of Italy, winning the Italian Formula 3000 championship in 2005 before moving up to GP2.

Zuber has also spent the past two seasons racing in GP2, finishing in ninth position this year with championship-winning team iSport International. The Austrian-born 24 year-old previously competed in the F3 Euroseries and the World Series by Renault before switching to GP2.

First night race in Formula 1's history to be held in 2008 in Singapore

The schedule for next season was just decided and FIA brought into it what many expected with joy : The Singapore GrandPrix. This race won't be held during the day ,but during the night. This will give a different atmosphere to the race , and to the people worldwide watching it on TV.
The Grand Prix of Singapore and the other new track in Valencia are both city tracks and they will join Monaco in the list of tracks in this category. As Monaco is considered by many the most importang Grand Prix of the season, having 3 such races a year will increase Formula 1's intensity and public appeal.
Below is the whole race program for 2008:
16/3 AUS Australia
23/3 MAL Malaysia
6/4 BRN Bahrain
27/4 E Spain
11/5 TR Turkey
25/5 MC Monaco
8/6 CDN Canada

Will the name Schumacher leave Formula 1 forever?

After big brother's retirement from Formula 1, his brother Ralf could be leaving the top racing world as well. The Brazilian Grand Prix was Ralf's last race for Toyota . Unfortunately for the young Schumacher brother his latest results don't recommend him for a contract with a top team next season. Also, most of the teams have allready signed contracts with their 2008 pilots, with only Alonso's likely transfer having a chance of changing things.
Ralf and Toyota ended their relationship in a very decent way, both the driver and the team admitting being pleased with the 3 seasons spent together.

Hamilton still hopes to get the title

Things may not be over yet in the Formula 1 2007 season. McLaren appealed to the race officials decision of not punishing Kubica , Rosberg and Heidfeld for using fuel with characteristics outside the allowed ones. The 3 drivers have finnished 4,5 and 6, just in front of Hamilton, and if 2 or 3 or them are stripped out of their places , the young english driver can win the title in the backstages. This is the last hope of McLaren to save something of a season which until 6 races ago they completely dominated.

Dramatic last race of the season gives Kimi Raikkonen his first driver title

What an amazing last race of the season this was.
Right at the start Raikkonen and Massa managed to put the 2 McLaren's behind them. Alonso overtook Hamilton in the second corner and the championship title was now in everyone's grasp.
Unfortunately for Hamilton, the young brittish driver lost control of his gearbox and found himself on 18th position. Filled with determination, Hamilton started climbing back the ranks, but his 7th place was not enough.
Up front Raikkonen passed Massa in the late stages of the race to overtake Alonso in the Championship by 1 point.
The final standings:
1. Raikkonen 110p
2. Hamilton 109p
3. Alonso 109p

What everyone wants to know now is what will happen with Alonso. Will Briatore buy him back? , will he choose Toyota's white check offer? The following days will probably clear this as well.

The downfall of eurosport.com

A few months ago one of the most visited sport information websites ( www.eurosport.com) was bought by the giant web services provider Yahoo. This might have brought some good money into the pockets of the people who owned eurosport but became a huge disappointment for the visitors of the old site.
The new site removed all the stats from most of the football leagues, and the new owners ignore all the requests for getting the stats back from the site visitors.
Football fans all over Europe have stopped visiting the site since Yahoo bought it, this is seen very easily just by looking at the number of visits the site had in the past months . If you know people with management roles in Yahoo please contact them and ask them to bring the old stats back, the sport fans all over Europe need it badly.

New blog on air

Sunday ,21st October 2007, this is the day in which this site starts. Oh, just another sport blog some would say, well I can't argue with that , and I will try in the next weeks to prove you ,the visitor, that this blog is one worth reading. As this project is at its beginning I will focus at start on 5 sports, 4 of them you can already see , the 5th one I will leave up to you , in a poll open till the end of 2007. In the meantime, I will focus on writing quality articles concerning football , formula 1, ski jumping and biathlon. I also intend to write some articles about events taking place in the sport info business, starting with my comments about what is happening when a good full of info site is taken over by a huge player in the internet industry (the aquisition of eurosport.com by yahoo).
